(HAMDEN, Conn.)-When the Quinnipiac Bobcats golf team teed it up this past weekend at the Trinity College Invitational, they had a new captain leading them. In the off-season, Senior Ian O’Connor was named team captain by Head Coach John O’Connor.
On the decision to make Ian captain, Coach O’Connor told quinnipiacbobcats.com “’We’re very excited to have Ian as our captain for next season,’ O’Connor said. ‘He’s shown great leadership over the past three years made this an easy choice for us. His high level of play will be a great asset to our team for the 2008-09 season.’”
According to quinnipiacbobcats.com, Ian carried a 77 average throughout last season. He was named NEC Player of the Week for the week of September 19, 2007 after shooting 68 in the final round of the Rutgers Invitational. He was one of the most consistent golfers on the team last year, and will need to continue that to have a successful Senior season, this time as captain.
