(HAMDEN, Conn.)-Freddy Hall is this week’s pick for athlete of the week after he spent 200 minutes in goal giving up just one score when the bobcat’s faced NJIT and St. Bonaventure this past week. The Quinnipiac junior who lead the nation last year in save percentage and saves per game had comprised a total of eight saves and played well enough to get his first shutout of the year against the Highlanders of NJIT last Wednesday.
He added another strong showing only giving up one goal in the 1-1 tie Sunday when the bobcat’s faced St. Bonaventure. This performance was tougher than it appears because the field was wet and soft, especially in front of each goal resulting in tough footing, after tropical storm Hanna passed through Hamden the night before. In the match verses SBU, the bobcat’s had a tough time getting the ball out of their own territory and Hall was always at the top of his game helping out his defense by coming out to grab balls and punching out the four corner kicks attempted. Throughout the games he showed his fearlessness by jumping into the crowd after the corners to get the bobcat’s out of trouble.
Hall will look to continue his outstanding play and get Quinnipiac to a 2-0-1 start when they face Canisius Saturday, September 13th in Buffalo N.Y.
