(HAMDEN, Conn.)-Senior forward Bryan Leitch has been voted this week’s WQAQ Athlete of the Week after tallying three goals and two assists in an exhibition game against the University of Prince Edward Island on October 9th. His first goal came with a little over five minutes into the first period which tied the Bobcat’s and PEI at one. Quinnipiac soon trail 3 – 1 but two power play goals by teammate Jean Marc Beaudoin, which were both assisted by Leitch, would knot the game up at three with 18 minutes left in the third period. With the game tied, Leitch scored the eventual deciding goal at the 15:44 mark which was his second goal of the game. He would not stop there scoring his third and final goal about a minute later to lock up the win for the Bobcats.
This was Leitch’s first hat trick of his career at Quinnipiac and it was his first five point game since last March against Brown University. Leitch has recorded two goals in a game five times but his first hat trick comes just before the Bobcats begin their regular season at the Mutual of Omaha Stampede, Friday October 17th. In the first round of this four team tournament Quinnipiac will take on ECAC conference opponent Union, and will look for more production from Bryan Leitch heading into the 2008 – 2009 season.
