(HAMDEN, Conn.)—Five players scored in double digits for the Quinnipiac Bobcats women’s basketball team Wednesday night at the TD Banknorth Sports Center, helping them down Hartford University, 73-61. The balanced attack was led by senior Mandy Pennewell who scored 13 points on 3-for-5 shooting from three-point land. Senior Brianna Rooney threw in 12 points, while Erin Kerner, Kathleen Neyens and Felicia Barron all contributed 11 points of their own.
Efficiency from the free throw line and the three-point line was the key to the Bobcats victory. They shot 20-of-26 from the charity stripe (76.9 percent) as a team, with Rooney leading the way going 7-for-8. Pennewell led QU from long distance (3-for-5) as they shot 7-for13 collectively (53.8 percent).
Quinnipiac improves to 3-0 on their current homestand and to 6-1 overall, as Hartford drops to 4-4. The Bobcats will look to finish off a sweep of their four-game homestand on Saturday when they will face Monmouth University in their first conference game at noon.
