Katie Meline is a senior at Quinnipiac University where she is majoring in broadcast journalism and is enrolled as a sports studies minor.
Katie joined the WQAQ Sports Department in the Fall 2008 semester, where she has been a field producer. She currently has a sports update every Tuesday at 12:30. In the fall of 2008, she co-hosted “The End Zone” with Melissa Hebert, a talk show discussing the past week of football action and a preview to the next week’s games. Melissa is currently abroad in Ireland but Katie hopes that the show will return to the airwaves in fall of ’09.
Katie is also in her fourth year as one of the Quinnipiac Men’s Ice Hockey team managers, where she films every home game from the press box as well as keeping track of statistics for the team such as ice time. Also, by having office hours, Katie does clerical tasks to help the team out, such as large mailing and entering information into databases.
Katie is a die-hard sports fan, specifically the New England teams. The Boston Red Sox are her favorite, followed closely by the Boston University Men’s Ice Hockey team, but the Bobcats are her No. 2 hockey team. She hopes to one day make a career out of covering New England teams by joining NESN.
Prior to Quinnipiac, Katie attended Exeter High School where she was a member of the school newspaper “The Talon.” Junior year, she was a reporter and senior year, she was promoted to News Editor. In addition to the newspaper, she was yearbook editor and manager of the boy’s varsity ice hockey team for two years. She danced, mostly ballet from the age 3 until her senior year of high school.
Katie resides in Brentwood, N.H., with parents K.J. and Steve and younger brother David.
