This week’s WQAQ athlete of the week honors belong to senior forward Katie Latonick (Severna Park, Md.), the captain of Quinnipiac’s women’s lacrosse team.
Latonick led the Bobcats to a 2-1 week, including back-to-back dominant performances against NEC rival Central Connecticut State University and Iona University. The 2-1 week for Quinnipiac improved the Bobcats record to 3-4 overall on the year, and 2-0 in conference play.
Latonick had a huge week, proving why she is the captain of this team. Latonick scored 8 goals, along with having 11 assists, which gave her a total of 19 points on the week. This included her huge 4 goal, 4 assist game against CCSU this past Sunday; a game which the Bobcats won convincingly 20-4.
On the year, Latonick leads the team in assists (17), is fourth on the team in goals (11), and leads the team in overall points (28).
The Bobcats will look to improve their overall and conference record when they take on the Long Island University Blackbirds in Brooklyn, N.Y. this Friday.
